Unfortunantly I had to give him up when I went into the Airforce since my parents, nor my inlaws would keep him and his mate until I got my duty station. I gave them away for free, tank and all. Unfortunanly for whatever reason the guys lost them. I still do not understand as he kept rams and angles. You have to really do something wrong to kill a Midas.:( I won't make the same mistake with the next ones which I'll put up in abit. I sure wish I would have kept some fry though.
very sorry to hear that.. that seems so unfair.. you needed to do what you had to but the wrong person can make a difference.. but move on.. and looking forward to seeing your new ones when you get them..

Hi there, I just joined this forum, this is my first post. I have an F2 female Red Devil named Diabla. :) I got her through my fish club. One of our sponsers, Spencer Jack of The Afishionados held a growout contest. We each got one fish, he refused to tell us the species until the end of the contest though we figured it out pretty quickly, and we grew them out for six months then had a big evening where we had our fish measured. Diabla was originally Diablo, but when Spencer vented her and said she was a female, I had to change her name slightly, lol. She did pretty good, considering she was one of the only females, she tied for 3rd place and was just 10 mm off the lead at 6.5 inches. She's around 7 or 8 inches now and doing very well. So, here she is.

And today

This shot has some glare, but shows her real color well

That's it, thanks for looking. Some awesome Red Devils here, hope Diabla turns out as well! :)

Here are a couple of new pics of some of mine.

Here's a short video of my Amarillo guarding his fry. It's close enough to a Midas.

Hey, I've got some updated pics too. Midas is growing like a weed.

He's probably 8-10" now and shares the 120 with my Red Bay Snook and my new Jaguar. He's definitely the ruler of the tank.

Hope ya don't mind Red Devil(Tossed ya an invite via PM), but I though I would post this here since this is a hot spot for Amphilophus.

Needless to say, I am passionate about Amphilophus. I have also noticed a majority on this site/C/SA cichlid forum who also are passionate about Amphilophus. So I made a page on Facebook where we can link/upload our videos, pictures, and convers on our Amphilophus. Another tough aspect is finding Males/Females to breed with the Amphilophus we have as some are more rare then others. This way we can network as I see Midas, Red Devils and other Amphilophus seem to be very dominate on the "Central and South American Cichlids forum and Media forum. So come and join the connection....."The Amphilophus Connection".:headbang2

this is my little devil/midas. please don't flame me but i've had this guy living in my sump for the past couple of months as i had nowhere else to put him. it is an offspring of my mate's breeding pair and they were both blood orange so i knew this guy would turn out nice.i was given a 2'x1' tank for free from a mate and had a old heater and filter lying around so i thought he deserved the upgrade:D he/she is around 2" and already showing alot of potential. notice the blue around the lips
