red eye bass

I might try my hand at breeding them a few years down the line; I don't have the space right now. Anyone who can keep peacock bass or other big cichlids can keep the smaller Micropterus too.

Me too, I will try to breed all three species in few years later, along with Mud sunfish, Sacramento perch, blacknose crappie and few Lepomis species.

Mud sunfish look very interesting as this medium sized sunfish has round tail and have nice stripe across on the back. They can easily obtained but not sure about Sacramento perch.

I think Sacramento perch have been established in Nevada. It may be easier to get some from there than from California, since NV has pretty loose regulations and the fish is non-native there.

Thats what I was thinking about try out other states that has non native Sacramento perch instead of California. However Im not sure how they do in Minnesota winter if I want to raise them in the isolated pond with a permit. If they cant handle the winter then theres heated pond or indoor pond opinions.

there are sacramento perch in lake crowley in the eastern sierras in california. in fact, thats probably the best sac perch fishery in the state. this lake is also known for trophy trout. its a cold water lake that freezes over in the winter, so the perch should be fine in MN.

Oh really? Then thats great news for me! All I need is a permit/license and few ponds as well as the fish. Im still in the college for Fisheries.
