Ok so i wanted to know how large your guys' chalceus grow as im getting conflicting info online, some places say 8-10in some say more like 12in (not big difference i know just wanted to see what was more realistic) also was planning on getting one to be a top level swimmer in my 5ft 120g tank (will have carpinte pair, female festae, and male GT for cichlids and then IF it works out a BGK for the bottom) so from what i read it said they do well either alone or in groups of 6 or more, so was planning to just do one because i definitely dont have room for 6 but wanted to get your guys opinion on if they could be kept in smaller groups so the chalceus wouldnt be by itself with the aggressive cichlids (or will it be fine by itself) anyways was thinking if they wouldnt fight to much to get 3? would this be ok

Not a lot of ppl have pink tails.. or red.. But ya.. u got most of it correct..

They are schooling fish that should be in a tank no smaller than 60 gallon.
You can have two together.. but it gets boring... Three would be a good schooling community of fish...

I have two Red tails myself and they are fine.. no attacks or what not.. but they are better in Odd number. As for tankmates.. they should be comparable to their own size.. Max growth is about 10" I dunno if they reach 12"
I think for your 6ft, 120gallon. if its 6ft.. You can do 3 just fine.. They are very skittish fish.. and will jump when scared or stress... Have a well covered top..

This vid will give you an idea... video is from a MFK Mod who visited an aquarium in Germany with Pink tails and Blk arowana...

cool thank you for the info, yeah thats one of the reasons i wanted them because they are a more uncommon top swimmer, i think i will go with three then to create some nice activity at the top:)

ya.. since they are top dwellers.. they wont be bother by cichlids...

I have two cichlid pair in my 60 gallon.. Two FH and Two JD.. both are paired up fish..

I think red terrors are ok.. they as long as you dont have Midas.. cuz midas will go after any fish they dont like.. even plecos...

For food.. bine shrimp/pellets are fine.. they can be train to eat almost anything.. My two have learned to eat sinking pellets.. It wasn't meant for them.. more for my plecos.. but they go after it..

Post some pics of them when you get the chance! ;)

they are very cool fish :)
