I have never used heat lamps on my snakes, I use a combination of under cage heaters and ceramic heat emmiters on thermostats. IMO (and this is just me) heat lamps and "basking" lamps are pretty much useless for snakes.
They offer no way of having heat AND a day/night cycle and they dry out a cage faster than the sun.
Like I said though this is just MY opinion as many people use them for thier pets.

Ill try to take some updated shots when I get home, I coach Special Olympics Track tonight so Ill see if I have the time.

I use infared bulbs,and a heat mat.

Mine is always warm with that combination.
