Red-Tail Tinfoil Barb (Barbonymus Altus) 55 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ill look into the filamentosa barbs; i watched a youtube video of them and they are absolutely stunning in a school! i may get those! you think they will be good with the bichir?

Yes the filment barbs or the denison would be my choice. Had both and will be great with your birchers. Jack dempsey will hide a lot and be boring. Also prices on the denison barbs have come down a lot due to captive breeding.

you are thinking of Tinfoil Barbs, not Red Tail Tinfoil Barbs, but I guess I'll take your inputs and not get them

No I am thinking of red tail tinfoils. They get too big for a 55. And your bichir won't eat.

I have one in my 55 with my African cichlids, silver dollars and giant Asian upside down catfish and it seems to do really well. Its good cause the cichlids can't catch it cause it's too fast. But more then one would probably overcrowded the tank

Your tank already is overcrowded. And you have fish with vastly different needs as far as water chemistry.

Good to know. I think they are great fish. But I was never recommending them just due to how outrageously expensive they are/were. $20 per barb when you need a school of 7+ (they need a group of at least 7 IMHO to live comfortably) was/is just insane, and I refused to pay that much for a barb.

But I still prefer the filament barb :)
