Got this guy at my lfs last weekend, real cool fish. I've learned never to go on just what the label on the tank says, or what they tell me it is. I liked him, and I've kept blood parrots before, so I bought him. The only thing is they called him a red & white parrot cichlid, and told me he was hard to come by. I've seen plenty of blood parrots in there before ranging between ten and twenty dollars. But because they claimed he was hard to come by they were asking 35, I talked him down to thirty, but I'd still like to know what I have and if I over paid or not. Oh and btw, he's about 3 inches.

its a defect (or at least to me) and it jsut depends if you think these sorts of fish are worth more or less. Depending on the fish im always happy to pay more.

Blood parrots are hybrids....I believe they are half(or at least part) Midas. The color on this BP looks like a common Midas coloration. I would say its just his Midas genes coming through.

No you simply have there a creamsicle blood parrot. It a regular blood parrot just with a different (hard to find) coloration. They were right in saying u dont see these often. But most of the time its mixed in with the regular blood parrots and your store just took advantae and jack up the price. It happens. Unless they really bought a batch of these. Price was a bit much for me but not a "rip off" price.
