So my $10 redtail cat won't eat my $50 bag of massivore pellets, all he'll eat are earthworms. How do I get him to eat the pellets, would not feeding him for a couple of days work or just keep wasting the pellets hoping he'll eat them one day.

Yes, clean the tank, making sure there's not any food left over, don't feed for 2-3 days then offer some pellets, if that doesn't work try a week, some fish are stubborn, but in the long run pellets will give maximum results and you will enjoy him for years!

what size is your rtc at? if he's still a baby, 2-3" he may think the pellet is to large for his throat. do a starve cycle as VET suggested and possibly break the pellet down a bit or use somethign smaller, liek shrimp or even earthworm pellets.
The pet shop I go to has been out of worms so I went to the fish market and bought shrimp and he inhaled it! Still won't eat pellet's though.
Both my 20 inchers are on a mix of peltets and haddock fillet. I had to try close to 6 diffent pellets be for i found one they liked then mixxed on the masivore little by little.
I sometimes feed my big cats(30"+) catfish pellets intended for aquaculture uses. at $20 for a 50 lb bag its hard to beat. it is not a majority of their diet but it helps if i'm out of fish ect.
I've used the pellets also but I can buy 10lbs of fish fillets for $20
