How do we reduce dissolved organic matter in aquarium,
in addition to doing regular water changes, is there anything that can be done to further reduce dissolved organic matter in the tank?

Along with planted sumps, and water changes, I use foam fractionation on inside tanks and on my ponds. There are naysayers that don't believe protein skimming works in fresh water but...the foam in the pic below is/are removed dissolved organics from the water column

The plans for the building of the above bio/fractrationater are on koiphen.com onder phoam phractionater

Thanks wish i can build one like that , im really bad at diy :( also not sure if those parts are available here. Originally planning to use a little pp or hydrogen peroxide. Will those saltwater skimmer being soldminlfsmwork for freshwater?

Duana, how do you build those things?

Look at the plans on koiphen.com, they are very easy to build. I use lava rock in the column as bio media and as media to break up the flow and create the air water interface that promotes separation of the DOC.
The small commercial skimmers sold for salt water are marginal at best for fresh. Salt water is much more dense, and easier to fractionate, fresh water usually requires much heavier flow, or taller column.
The DIY version is very easy to build, and I use a pump as small as 950gph to create fractionation on my youtube fractionator. There is also a counter current DIY build from Aquarium fish Mag, the one below.
