Replacement fluval hoses?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your better off just going out and buying the kink hoses that fluval makes.

I gave the rubber hose a try, works great, but if your putting your fluval under a stand where you need bends and ect it always kinks.

If you seriously cant find it at a lfs, and cant online, my store has em and i can ship em to you.

But i say go with bigalsonline. Best prices out there.

finding hoses to fit it are not as easy as you think , i went right to the company and bought them i cant remember the company ,i know they are based out of massachsetts and they cost me $40.00 , if you think you will find a "replacement" hose at a harware store or pool place ...good luck i went to about 7 or 8 of them with no luck

I'm forseeing this problem, Why could'nt we use a foot or so of fluval hose for the disconnect "give" and then go with the hard pipe?

because it would nullify buying alternative hoses (or hard plumbing), if you have to still buy fluval hoses to get that foot of 'give'. But if you have scrap fluval hose length, that could work.

I'm just going to buy the kink hoses... makes life simpler and I don't like the idea of hard plubing anymore (on a canister at least).

home depot or lowes... excellent quality ...not too expensive... but paying is worth the peace of mind... i just bought clear 1" hoses so i can see when it is time to clean them... work excellent... and should NEVER break... fluval hoses stink,, but filters are great...my 4 cents

Not sure about the fluval connectors, but I use regular lengths of garden hose on my Renas. So cheap to buy a 50' hose and cut the lenghts, I just replace them instead of cleaning.

So many good ideas. Has anyone try to make a tube cleaner? Mine is a bit dirty. Replacing it would take to much trail and error at the lfs or home supply places.

What i was thinking is something like a toliet cleaner, but put a longer stronger metal wire and clean the tubing?

not a problem at all, happy to help CoHazard, From the canister directly, I still have some soft hose, but going up, hanging over and dipping into the tank is all hard pvc irrigation hose, it seems to work well so far, have it on both canisters and the tank is 4 feet deep (120cms) so it still has some work to do.
