Reptile Eye Drops?

Ahhhhh.....I knew I was over reacting! This morning I went out to check on her and give her some eye drops and both eyes were open! It still looks a little irritated so I will continue to give her drops. Thanks for the help everyone.
 
usually vitamin A def should affect both eyes. Not one in perfect condition and the other closed, usually.

A guy here in Portugal, who has a huge land turtle collection usues eye drops for humans whenever his turtles need it.

That's what I was thinking too Miguel. If she was sick, I would think both eyes would be shut. Still, I gave her some extra vitamin A just to help her eye heal a little faster.

I've used human eye drops years ago and it worked fine then. I just wanted to see how far along reptile optometry has come! ;)

Thanks vice. Hey do you ever have to put drops in your tortoise's eyes? Land turtle species are the most likely to have eye problems.
 
yes. i prefer to use saline to just rinse them out as they are still hatchlings im sort of uncomfortable putting eyedrops with chemicals in their eye (even though i trust the vet i work for and her judgment) im just a catious person. actually i dont know if you remember that one of my redfoots wasnt eating during that time his eyes were puffy and shut but i cleaned daily with sterile saline and soaked in warm water at least once a day tried for twice a day and a week later he came around and is eating well again and eyes arent puffy.
 
Yes I do remember you saying that your one redfoot wasn't doing so good. I'm glad to hear it's doing much better!
 
thanks, and thank goodness your gal turtle came around with that eye problem as well.
id almost rather treat with medication for worms and bacterias reather then mess with my turts/torts eyes... eyes are a scary thing to mess with when its medicated... :)
