Shrug, probably. Geting at te chamber would be the real issue. Havingit fill with water each time you open it really isn't an option considering you are going to want to do your feedings and whatnot there. Atleast I would assume.. but then I've never kept amphibians so have no idea. Now if you could seal the chamber at the bottom prior to opening then you'd have it made.

Glass time!!!

Well, it's been a slow build but we finally put the glass in today. Of course we didn't have a silicone gun so I had to push the silicone out with a stick. Pretty easy with the first tube, hard as !*$&@! with the second. Ihad to get medieval on it's @$$. I also used felt spacers to kep the glass from squeezing out all of the silicone. I rarely heaar about people doing this anymore but when I first began to build tanks back in 2002 it was pretty common.. of course it wasn't nearly as common as it is now.

I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

LOL. you need to put your silicone dispenser pics in the Ghetto DIY thread. :p you must have had some sore muscles by the time you'd got enough silicone out to seal the glass :p

:D Glad I provide a little humor lol. You should have heard the blue streak when I finally went medieval on the last tube. It's nice having a box knife when needed.

So I have been doing a little thinking about the plumbing. I don't want to plumb the bottom because it's just a pain to deal with. So I took a piece from TFG and decided to try a multilevel drain system.

If you see issues, flaws, comments, questions, whatever... please let me know.

:D

There is one flaw with my drawing, it doesn't show the drain connection on the pipe down by the sump diverting water to the drain rather than the sump. It's simple a "T" fitting hooked to a pipe with a valve then a connector to a garden hose.

Figured I'd show what I was thinking of for the drain. The bottom goes to the sump, the side to the hose.

So guys, since this is a test tank lets throw some ideas out there for bulkheads and strainers. I've been thinking about the "Port Flanges" people use for speaker boxed. They have a flanged edge that may be able to be sealed on the tank. This is probabl not the best option. I am open to all suggestions when it comes to the bulkheads. I'd like to try something new rather than go with the standard fittings.. because, if they fail well no biggie, just go buy the right ones...
