bought this guy yesterday as an asian gar. did some research and he was what i thought he was a ctenolucius hujeta. was curious about any one on here that has had one. what there tempermant and growth rate and diet consist of and if they do better in groups. He is on feeders at the moment trying to get him and the rest of mine off them. any info will be appreciated. doing my own research still just curoius to hear from you guys and gals personal experience with them.

Ive got one in my 55. They tend to mind their own business most of the time. Mine eats just about anything I throw in there. Ive had it for about 6 months now and it hasnt grown very much. Maybe an inch or 2.

hujeta aren't from Africa. I think you've mistaken it as the H. Odoe which is the African pike.
 
The rocket gar is very skittish almost all of them will have bent and messed up noses because they constantly hit their 'beaks" against the glass.
 
Yeah he was all over when I first got him but now he's calmed down. He's really neat to watch hunt.

Does it eat like cut up strips of fish and shrimp or What are you feeding yours

Yeah itll eat those now. But before all it would eat was feeders. I had to trick him into thinking frozen shrimp was alive with fishing line lol
