stotty when are you gonna get us an updated pic of yours? i am sure he is much bigger now, you have had him for some time! I love the coloration on your's zooyork! Let's hope he keeps that in the future. Come to think of it there are 3 species of tsn, you never know your's might be a mix between a different species and the rtc! Oh yeah, i wanted to mention also that everyone says they slow their eating down when they get bigger, they obviously never met mine, lol! He is still eating like mad! I trap minnows for him out of the river, and also feed him plenty of shrimp! He eats probably 1-2lbs. of shrimp per week!

 I know I know it’s just a good clean picture and he has taken to becoming quite nocturnal. I will make an effort to get one in the next few days when I do I will let you know :swear: things eating for England.

nice dark coloration on him stotty. He's a beauty. Sometimes I wonder why so many people hate hybrids when I look at them. At least the catfish hybrids I have seen are beautiful, and are not deformed in any way! You plan on keeping him for life? I am going to keep mine for life. Hopefully that's a long time from now! I want to be one of the first if not the first to grow one of these to 4ft!

We have both experienced the scorn of the Hybrid haters. As I said before Hybridisation happens all the time with fish in the wild and before I get it in the ear again i will say :p to them.I think he is a stunning looking fish. So :swear: to them.

:WHOA: just measured mine today at 28 1/2 inches. He's grown half an inch in half a month. Hmmm, i'll slow my feeding schedule when he hits 3ft. :grinyes: Stotty i know what you mean. I try to tell people all the time about how a hybrids cannot reproduce and if accidentally or intentionally released into the wild they will not reproduce or breed with other types of fish and thin out the origional bloodline like everyone thinks. I hear a lot of talk about how if a hybrid gets into the wild it will reak havok on local populations. this just can't happen. either it will live out it's life and die a virgin, hehe, die during the first winter, or get caught and possibly eaten by a fisherman. They cannot thin out the bloodline of full blooded animals cause they are infertile! Only a very small percentage of hybrids are fertile, and even then good luck finding two of the same hybrid that are fertile, and then they reproduce. Well even if they did reproduce you wouldn't get more hybrids. Genetics just don't match like that. You would get two of the origional full blooded species that produced the hybrids in the first place. So someone please tell me how hybrids are bad for the hobby. I wish I could get another one!:headbang2

I got one of these guys maybe 6 weeks ago and it has well over doubled in size. I bought it @ about 2.5" and it's @ about 6" now. I know they get huge. I'm wondering if they'll be ok (when fully grown or nearly so) in a 250/300 gal aquarium or if I need to take a different route. How much are they expected to weight when full grown? And given that, will he bother my clown knife and royal knife? (Again, this is when they're full grown and the knives should hit around 40".)
