Im getting a 40-55 gallon tank in 2 weeks and I have recently changed my tank from aggressive to non or semi aggressive. I have an eba, polar blue parrot and a pink convict. Even in the temporary tank I chose to keep the pink convict with my new community tank going up with these guys because he is kinda peaceful. Hes never fought or chased anyone and is nicer than my eba. Will I be able to keep a school of 6-8 rummy nose tetra without having to worry about the tetras? If you have any other ideas let me know, I’m looking for medium schooling fish that has lots of color and won’t cost $10 per fish, thanks!

Rummynose would be easy prey due to their long and thin bodies.
Best to go with a larger bodied tetra like Buenos Aires, Colombian, bleeding heart, or Congo, just to name a few.
Keep in mind you have 2 convicts (a polar blue parrot is just a short body convict or Honduran red point), and if they are male and female and breed they will get mean (as convicts do).

The polar blue convict is no where near the same temperament as a normal convict, they are what less aggressive, slow eaters, slower swimmers, and less agile. The thing couldn’t hurt a neon tetra if It tried. But I agree I might just do a a bigger tetra or stick with the gaint danois I have. Also I’m pretty sure the polar blue is infertile

I wouldn't reccomend rummy nose tetras; those would get slurped up like noodles by your EBA and Convict. I would recommend Buenos Aires; true, they are not the most colorful tetra out there, but they certainly are interesting little critters. They also are like mini piranhas in their eating habits. Get 6+ Buenos Aires, and you'll have fun. ;)

Also, I kept my Buenos Aires with two EBAs for a little while, and they never had any problems. From what I observed, they actually liked each other. The baby EBA I had (not much bigger than the tetras themselves) swam with them in their school. It was quite entertaining to watch. The larger one just ignored them.
