Hey guys so i saw the sakrete play sand from home depot and it said it is washed and ready to go but is it silica free? what i really want to know is if it is heavy or should i just go with pool filter sand since it stays on the bottom better? And where can i get pool filter sand and how much is it? Thanks!

namco usually carries it

That wouldnt work though they dont have a store in colorado.

I would check at Home Depot, they should have a pool supply area. Otherwise find a local pool service store, they will definity have it. Also I would definitly go with pool filter sand over play sand. From all the stories I have heard about how hard it is to clean and since I just setup my 75 gallon last night with pool filter sand, its definitly easier to clean. Took about 75 pounds to get about 2-3 inch layer built up. I simply put about 20 pounds in a 5 gallon bucket and then filled the bucket, agitated the sand and poured it off. do this about 5-6 times for each 20 pounds and it comes clean fairly easy. Also if I could recommend you either use gloves or something other than your hand to agitate the sand. I did this for about 2 hours and my knuckles are raw from the sand rubbing on them alot.

And thanks to all those on here who helped me decide which sand to get. I definitly don't regret going with the pool sand. It looks great.

Go to any pool supply store in your area...they should have it. And I vote pool filter sand over sakrete all day long. Had them both but will never go back to the play sand. PFS all the way!

So it isnt on the web site for HD but it is there? How expensive is pool filter sand? There is a pool store right next to me too.
