You do not want to shut off UV when running salt. (Otherwise you wouldn't ever run UV on saltwater tanks.) It doesn't break down salt like it will with actual medications.

I would say it was a mess b/c it wasn't properly cleaned previously. UV is not only good for killing bacteria, but it's great for growing algae inside along the quartz sleeves and in the contact chamber.

Ok I don't know about salt water but it didn't have green it was scale
Like a white haze all over the glass sleeve something I just took as being used in hard water
