filter media. Used in large canisters or Sump and Wet/dry filters. They create homes for biological bacteria that filters the water.

They are plastic pot scrubbers aka "SKRUBBIES", that are used in place of Bio-balls, bio-bale etc. Used to provide surfaces for beneficial bacteria to thrive. This is the bacteria that does the biological filtration. The benefits of using "scrubbies" is you get more surface area per cu ft than the above mentioned media....
