I'm looking to pick up some kind of Serrasalmus, when I went and spoke with my LFS he said he could order a "Serrasalmus nattereri blue" for me.
He didn't know what it was himself.

At about 288$ :nilly:

What is it? A common Red Bellied with blue in it? Something else?
For reference, a RBP would cost about 6$ from him.

probably just a pygocentrus nattereri (it's no longer serrasalmus but pygocentrus for rbp).
see if you can ask the lfs get a picture from his supplier so we can better ID it.

Could also be a blue diamond rhom.

Don't ban me JP. :WHOA:

LOL as long as you behave. :banhim::banhim::banhim:

I thought about that too but they would at least call it a rhombeus instead of a nattereri....who knows. maybe it is.
a picture will clear things right up.

I wouldn't try it for even close to that price especially if they don't even know natts are pygos and no longer serras. I would be curious to see what it looks like though I'd think it is a farily normal red with mayby some blue sparkle. My adult reds have a nice amount of "diamonds" that have a purple or blueish hue. It could be a BDR though If they sell reds they should know the difference between reds and rhoms. Most importers in South america don't ID species overly well so it is hard to say what it could be if your lfs has never gotten them before. There are no piranhas with any significant amount of blue so I wouldn't expect much blue on it either way.

no piranha with significant amounts of blue? My gold macs are more blue than gold. My rbp have a blue sheen to em. They might of been refering to the rare blk rbp?

name some p's with signifcant amounts of blue. I am talking significant as in more then just "blue diamonds"

Like I said my macs are more blue than gold. Certain foods can intensify colors like blue, red, orange, & yellow. Are they blue like a ebjd? No. But they're definitely blue.
