Serrasalmus rhombeus life span

You have to figure that that rhom was in a(I believe)55gal most of his life. & most likely it was fed exclusively goldfish just as long. & not to mention filtration 20-30 or 40years ago probably aren't near as good as they are today. The water change schedule might not of been what we think is acceptable these days either.

Bruner is correct according to OPEFE:

In 1999 the fish died at 11 inches according to Frank Glennon. To my knowledge when I first saw this fish it was kept in a 10 gallon aquarium, later Glennon said the fish was kept in a 55 gallon for most of its life.

Its been a while since I read it. I believe it also said it was fed almost exclusively goldfish or minnows & beef heart if I remember right. Which was pretty much excepted 15-20+ years ago. I've mentioned the lady I met at bait shop last winter had 2 rbp almost 16years fed exclusively bait shop feeders(goldfish, minnows, perch, rosies) until a major ice storm a few years ago killed them. & I've heard of other rbp living to about the same age. I'm not suggesting feeder only diet, as everyone knows I preach variety
