I have two green sevs and a gold. they are both pretty small, maybe 2.5 inches in size.

I noticed today that the larger Green and the Gold laid eggs along the side of the filter tube. I dont know which one of them laid the eggs, but both of them have little "things" sticking out of them. The green kept swimming upwards against the eggs but it didnt look like it was laying more eggs, so the green might be the male and the gold - the female. The gold still has a little bit of a bloated stomach and they hadnt eaten in almost 24 hours.

Hopefully I'll get pics up soon, but its difficult cuz its in the back of the tank.

Any advice?
How long till they hatch?

I have 5 clown loaches and 2 geos in there as well. Will that be a problem when the fry hatches?

Don't be at all surprised if the first 10 to 20 spawnings are eaten at various stages. They will eventually get it right. I would remove the dithers or relocate the pair to a large well filtrated tank with several hiding places for the parents and the fry.

The female lays the eggs in a cave or on a rock. Approximately 78 hours later, the fry begin to hatch. The Severum female will take the fry into her mouth for a short period of time and let the fry out periodically and to look for food.

The Severum offers great parental care so there is no need to transfer the fry to a separate tank. The parents will guard their young from predators and remove any eggs that didn’t hatch. ( eat them )

Feed the babies baby brine shrimp, baby flakes and good luck

I too have a pair of rotkeil severums that lay eggs every water change. They eggs and and fry swim. The parents protect them for about a day before the other fish in the tank eat them. I was thinking about moving the eggs and the mom this time around to another tank. Is this a good idea and what is the best method to do this? The eggs are on a rock, so they should be easy to move, but how do i do it?

I'd like to know how to move them too...I am trying to breed my Rok's and I have some geo's and cory cats in the same tank. Can you move just the female? If you move the fish and egg's...she will still parent them in the new tank after the shock of the move?
