They are quite expensive here so I only got two- hoping they are male and female. They have only just started to change colour, and a lot. Both of them equally. Not sure if you can tell yet which is male if female?

The 6 geophagus where the same (got them all at the same time and size), but they have grown much faster than google said they would and I feel I like should upgrade my tank soon? Everyone is peaceful for now. 100gal 5ft.

Heros notatus are very dimorphic. Those look nothing like mine did at that size, but I have seen a different catch location than what I keep which looked very different as adults. Unfortunately I don't know what theirs looked like as juveniles.

The fact that yours are so dimorphic leads me to believe you have a pair.

Here is my breeding pair:

They may look like the gold variety sometimes (when I do a water change or turn the light on, but at other times they are greener and get quite pronouched stripes. Very recently they have started to get deeps blues on the tops of the dorsal fins and face. The night I was taking these pics it didn’t capture of these, only the one stated to change slightly. Anyway what ever type they turn out to be I am happy with very them. Great fish. The main concern is male or female. I know two males most likely work out, but two females?
I’ll post more pics of the variety of colours they display as I capture them.
