Hi everyone, got my Jag about a 2 months ago at about 1.5 inches and now it’s about 3.25 inches. I was wondering if anyone could help identify if it’s a Male or a Female ? Or is it too early to tell? Thanks :)IMG_5036.jpegIMG_5038.png

It may be too young to have developed noticeable traits at this point
Here is a male, notice the spots on the gill plate, he is 10"-12" in size

On most Parachromis species females don't show small spots, they have larger, more solid markings

female motaguense left, male right

similar in dovii, female left, male right
Also notice in Parachromis, females are more torpedo shaped, and males have a steeper profile

Same with the related genus Nandopsis

Beside the the males more mottled gill plate, note his cranial shape compared to the female
