I know that it is a wierd question...
Anyone could take a shark poop shot?
Let me explain. I 'm a Paleontologist and a friend found a strange coprolite (fossil poop) and we think that it is a fossil shark one. Beause of spiral valve of its intestine they have a spiral inner pattern, but we want to know about the external surface.
Thanks a lot!!!

Researchers have thought they found fossilized shark poop before. I'm wonder on how often it really is shark and not some other creature. Often times, the waste from a shark (todays sharks at least) dissolves prior to it ever hitting the bottom. It would be rare solid mass that would have had to maintain it's form long term in order to result in such a state of preservation.

Thanks a lot for your response. But I need a clear shot, if it is possible.
The Whale Shark poo is someting like "dust", I need predator sharks because the poops are more "solid". Sorry my english, but i do not know how to say those things in english.
cheers

I agree with you. We have a lot of papers about those coprolites, however, most of them don't explain the real reason of those associations to sharks coprolite. The only reason is the spiral valve, however most of basal bony fishes also have the same valve. Thanks

Some where I might have detailed pictures of fossilized samples laying in water next to 'fresh' samples for a project about 2 years ago. I'll look and see if I can find them.

at the georgia aquarium the whale shark passed over the tube and let out a big one like a brown alkaseltzer.

If you find this it would be great!!!

We sectioned one of the coprolites and we found a lot of scales and a possible shark tooth.:D

Tanks a lot
