Beauty. I've always wanted a female festae, but have never liked the looks of the males personally and know they only hold up that gorgeous colouring with a male present, so I've never bothered. She's stunning.

PS - I strongly believe ALL cichlids should have a substrate of some kind. I hate seeing fish - FH usually - in totally bare bottom tanks with nothing in them. If nothing else, having substrate helps provide some mental stimulation as they spent their time digging and rearranging as you're now seeing. It's such an ingrained, natural thing for them. Being kept in a glass box with zero substrate and zero decor seems so wrong to me...how can they do anything but be extremely bored?
