Short tailed nurse shark

Gotcha exactly shark123, u need to have a tank that's larger than your fish will need in 2 years. U gotta plan for him to be huge from day 1 not just buy a small tank for him and eventually buy larger. People rarely hold to their word on the "ill get a bigger tank later" phrase

i'd say start with gold fish, find 13 pennies on the ground and go buy one.

or ask for a betta on your 12th birthday, wuld love to see that surprised look on your face =)

Short-tail Nurses are fairly hard to get(since they need to be shipped from Eastern Africa), and usually priced higher than a Blacktip Reef if you can find one. Even though they stay small (2.5 ft long) - I would still never put one in anything less than a 600 gallon tank.

Also there are much cheaper and easier to find species to keep - such as Coral Catsharks, Arabian and Gray Bamboo Sharks, Northern/Ward's Wobbegong, & Papuan (PNG) Epaulette.

If you do manage to buy a shark tank it has to have no edges and be round so they don't smack their nose on the glass every time they turn around.
