Most of the substrate is pool filter sand, with a smattering of Fluorite.
Some Fluorite strategically placed near certain plants like the Tiger lotus.
There is a some natural light, 2 to 3 hours of indirect sunlight per day from a southern exposure.
A friend of mine is a reef tank keeper, and regularly changed out reef bulbs every 6 months, I would take his old bulbs and used them over my planted tanks.
As you can see once planted, I let plants do their own thing, and only trim when then cover the surface and block light.
