Looks really good. I like the driftwood you have in the tank. How big is the tank and the scarlet?

The Scarlet is about 12". The tanks is a 100 gallon tank. The background wood is a stump (malaysian), pretty big piece and it took a year for it to sink and stay in one place. The front pieces are african, narly, twisted, driftwood. I will post more pictures of my pleco tank in the gallery.

Seems like an awefully long time for malaysian wood. All of the pieces I have gotten that were malaysian sank immediately

I know, almost all my driftwood sinks right away but this was a XXL piece and I think there was an air pocket, hollow cavity inside the wood. I used bricks, wedged pvc pipe from the front of the tank to hold against the back. The first couple of months every morning it would be floating at the top. Every day I would pull the canopy off realign the bricks and wedge the pipes, secure it, but each night if there was a little wiggle room the fish would knock a pipe and the thing gets loose, gives way and floats to the top. My fish had an overhanging cliff or ledge, I did not want to secure it anymore. It did not look good for a while. Slowly one side would sink lower and lower. Its down and not moving now. It has a lot of caves and holes that the fish hide in, hang out of and swim thru (I have a school of Serpas(15) that follow the leader thru all the crevices), a very kool looking background. Oh, this piece leached like crazy. If I missed a water change the water became very dark brown. Friends always thought my tank was dirty. My water is clear now maybe a very little tint but its good for the fishes. I am happy.

I will have more pictures in the gallery soon!

Wow there must have been an air pocket. My largest piece of wood weighs around 40 lbs, and it sunk immediately. How big is that wood?

I've actually grown to like the "blackwater" look in a tank although it took alot of personal coaxing to feel that way. Fish often exhibit nicer color in it because they feel more secure. I can't imagine that scarlet getting more colored up though. That thing is blazing! Makes my heart beat faster!
