Except if you're gonna feed it that you're gonna have to take all the hard parts off, and THOSE are the parts that contain the most astaxanthin.

If you don't take them off they could damage the inside of your arowana and kill it. I remember there's a thread somewhere around here talking about people's arowanas who've died because of this.

what about with F/D matter? will it be okay to just remove the head and tail? i dont want my aro dying just because i wanted it to have red fins...

i think the hikari arowana pellets work aswell.. i had a few arows with yellow stripes but changed over time with the pellets my red one stayed the same

This is just my personal opinion, but if the arowana is big enough to eat whole prawns... why not just remove the hard parts and stuff as many as you can INSIDE the prawn? That way the food it eats will be soft, but eventually the hard parts will be digested, too.

I have been noticing some silver arowanas having a red coloration at the tips of the fins. I have always thought it looked so beautiful however, i mainly only noticed this red color on arowanas that range from 8-14 inches, and have never seen it on the monster aro's (24"+). does this condition only occur on middle aged aro's? I can see this coloration starting on my 4 incher, but i would like to know if there are any ways to make this color flourish and be, well, permanent.

I feed mine fresh fish flays from the grocery store. Never frozen because some of the preservatives can cause issues over time, but rather fresh cut from the counter.
