I wasn't arguing with myself, I was frying your asinine statements in case you didn't notice, but if I were in your shoes I'd probably do the same lol. Let it go dude, you're punch drunk already.

please OP share and ignore this non sense the newer members bring to this once awesome forum.
How about comments from a not so much newer member, who is also not so new to the proper care of an Asian aro? While I understand the reasoning/logic behind 24/7 lighting, and WTT, I would also personally never a subject a fish to this kind of "grooming". It is indeed stressful to a fish.

To the OP - beautiful fish!

Very interesting thoughts.

I guess that's a never ending controversy whether keeping the lights on 24/7 is right. While logically it looks like torture, but do we really know if it is so? As far as my understanding goes, golden heads are put under lights 24/7 from a very young age for generations. What is the possibility that they may have gotten used to it. All animals adapt to their environment I guess.

I haven't seen my golden head under stress yet. Has been with me for more than 2 months with continuous lights. One of the signs of stress in fish, especially arowanas, is that they stop eating. My golden head, if anything, over the past few weeks has increased feeding.

So it's logic vs what I see practically everyday.

Would like to hear everyone's thought.

In the meanwhile, here is a latest video for everyone who is following this post.

I think as you say this will always bring controversy, as there is no 100% fool proof way to prove one way or the other, but over the years there has been a lot of research in this area, with various species. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_in_fish

My logic is, and always has been that fish require a rest period. I have seen this rest pattern in numerous species of fish that I have kept in captivity, and I don't believe that aros would be any different. In the ponds in Singapore the aros experience this same natural trend, as they would in nature, a daylight period, and nighttime. I think there is a big difference between what a hobbyist will see when it comes to acute stress in a fish, and a chronic low grade form of stress. Along the same lines of feeding a high fat diet, it will take some time for changes in the health of the fish, and even longer for the hobbyist to see that damage with the naked eye. In fact, many never do see it until it is too late.

Hi Avisek, Should the white background, sides and bottom be inside the aquarium or it doesn't matter if it's just outside the tank? Will one t5 8000k work? And should the water just be half full or a full tank could work too?
