I'm not sure what breed, but overall, how many gallons per snakehead is needed in a tank?

Let me know, thanks.

alot of different breeds going from alot of different sizes, giants get up to 5' dwarf snakeheads on the other hand are very small. the larger the fish the more territory is needed. what species are you looking at.

That's the thing, I have no idea what species it is. It's a dark murky grey with some silvery/yellow designs down the side.

post a pic, that'd be the best way for us to help you.

my point 2 most fish keepers would be 2 go big... in tat way u wouldn't hafta worry bout anything in future... post pics of wad uR intending 2 keep... wif a clearer picture it'd be easier 4 us 2 tell u wad u should go for... cheers...

most snakeheads get very large - so you're looking at a 6 to 10 foot tank.
Even the dwarfs, 5-10 inch ones are still 5 to 10 inches, so ... So I would at least in the minimum, have him in a 20 to 30 gallon tank, with a 55, 100/125, and a 240 gallon tank (or pond) WAITING just in case he is one of the big ones.

But simply, go to google, and look up snakehead, and try to find the one you have.

Channa gachua (these are a Dwarf Snakehead) and are one of the easiest snakehead species to breed in aquariums. They get to about 8". A pair will need a minimum tank size of 75 Gallon that will do the job BUT if its a red 6x3x2 for 1 fish

i agree...plus u cant just buy any old 6 foot tank...my fish shop tank guy sez it has to have reinforced glass (ie. custom built to be thicker) because when the red snakeheads get big. WATCH OUT

i caught a snakehead, when i was at my friends house in maryland, and thats a bad thing, people releasing monsters like that into the wild is an awful idea

that's why there banned for keeping in aquaria in america, though i still am not positive on the one state that they might be legal in.
