Hey guys, just wondering, are there any species of snakes that are semi-aquatic? I want to make a paludarium but am stumped species wise. I was thinking maybe a garter snake since they seem to be semi-aquatic.

green anaconda, yellow anaconda, few certain types of boas

Water Snakes (Nerodia Sp.) are pretty readily availible (and mean as hell...perfect for an MFK'er :naughty:) if you know where to look. Kingsnake.com is good.

As stated, Anacondas.

Cottonmouth/Water Moccasin. Doubt you want hots.

Garter Snakes are....sort of....semi-aquatic....but prefer to stay on land if given the chance. The main reason they go in the water is to look for prey. So if you don't have prey in the water, they will be on land.

Sea Kraits and Sea Snakes. But I doubt you are prepared for hots of that magnitude :grinno:

Enough is Enough! I've had it with these money biting snakes on this Monday to Friday Paludarium! ;)

Well, elephant trunk snakes are fully aquatic and they're awesome. If you want something more land based I would go with a northern water snake. Mean as hell, but awesome.

elephant trunk snake and tenticaled snake look on kindsnake.com in other snakes... only thing is they eat fish lol

The snakes listed above as well as rough green snakes. Could just be my obsession though. Lol. Simple insectivors that also enjoy small fish. Can't beat them but not a great snake for handling. One of these days I'm gonna build my paladrium for one. :D
