Snakes in a Paludarium?

^ just making you aware. not everyone in your family will have the same reaction to a bite (if they get bitten). if you developed an allergy to the venom you wouldn't know until your second bite, that is if you have been bitten already.

again, i have to stress that several people have been killed by these snakes and not just from allergic reactions. these are hot and should be treated as such.

where have you read that people have been killed by them? everything I've read says that their venom is mild and does not have much effect on humans

Apparently asian vines are difficult to get eattin fish. They also are notoriously.difficult to get eatting anything other than lizards.

I severly doubt thier venom has takin any lives . Even an allergic reation to it, its a very mild venom

i have to look around, i think it was in one of my encyclopedias. if my memory serves me correctly; the person who first imported them was doing work with them and was killed in his lab..... come to think of it, i could be mistaking this story with the madagascar leaf nosed snake... stay tuned please, i'll have to wait til i get home to look.

LP, if i was to do house geckos as their food how often would it eat??

And I was not necssarily looking for an aquatic snakes (all though i am interested in a tentacled snake.)
I just want something that wouuld appreciate a paludarium

I was thinkin garters, tentacled snake, vine snake, or northern water snake.

Those sp would appreciate. U should consider the green too thoughe.

For the vine, if I remember correctly 2 a week would.suffice. U better work on gettimg on pinkys asap though as feeder geckos arnt cheap. Thats the only reason I dont h have one right now. Prob top snake I want(green, snakes are up there too) but the feeder lizards has kept me away from it. Either brerd ur own or brecome good friendds with a supplier.

Dont qoute me on amount though. Its been a good while since I did my major research. I will own one one day.

A. Javanicus!!!! I love them lol, but I'm pretty sure it was said, I think their common name is Elephant trunk snake. That or a N. Water Snake, or a Mud Snake.

Most mud snakes will only eat amphiumas in captivity. They will not even eat frogs or salamanders, just amphiumas. I would steer clear of them. Water snakes tend to musk and bite entirely too much to be pleasant and they are more heavy bodied so they would most likely kill the plants from stomping them down all the time.

I would stick to ribbon snakes, garter snakes, green tree snakes, or some other thin arboreal snake (flying snakes would be neat...) I hope you plan on having at least half land though because other than the completely aquatic snakes, they will need it.

i take it back ASIAN vines don't appear to be deadly but i still recommend that you err on the side of caution and treat them as you would any other hot.

i confused the stuff i read about madagascar leaf nosed snake (i think, still looking for the article) with asian vines. i apologize for any confusion and thank those who corrected me!

Np. Didnt want u to bad mouth one of my fav snakes. Lol.
