Some update photos. Pond is a little stired up from the thunderstorm this morning. We didn't lose many of the cycling gold fish, added two butterfly koi and 14 red way platies at the beginning of July. All in all it's doing great and staying clear. Birds and deer love it.

Yeah we call them street deer, lol.
The tank is upside down so the fish can swim up into it. They all get in at night.

A close to the end of summer update. I'd say pretty successful, no significant fish loss. Not as many plants as I wanted. The koi are doing great. Added a new oranda, never seen one like it before.
Not sure about how I want to winterize it yet. Obvious remove the 10 gallon and UV sterilizer. But I may insulate the tubing and see how long I can run the pitch pot. With a pond de-icer it should run unless we have super negative temperature again.

I would switch the pumps off and just leave a de-icer in if you get a layer of ice on the pond. Pumps will just take warm water from the bottom of the pond and add cold water to the upper layer.

so how is the pond doing during the winter months.Im getting ready to set one up right and would be interested as to how it went and what you did for the winter as our climate is about the same.
