I'm 6' even and the dog is Chopper an American pit bull terrier that I adopted about 8 months ago. He'll be two in a couple weeks.

Beautiful!!... Great job building. Love those driftwood pieces as well.
What are the actual dimensions of the tank going to be?... And what do you plan on keeping in it? Be sure to keep us all posted. :)

I'm going to try to answer all the questions, if I missed one let me know.
I used the garf plans to get started. I modified them because if I didn't it would have fallen apart the first time I filled it. Lots of extra 2X4's set vertically along the plywood sides are needed in my opinion. Dimensions are 8'X3'X3'. I would have gone 4' wide but I ran into the furnace. I sealed the wood with a paint on truck bed liner called Herculiner. It worked, but the bond between the liner and silicone was weak at best. After three atempts at resealing with silicone, I installed a pond liner. I used the splicing tape, because the splice adhesive does not adhere to glass well. The glass is 1/2" tempered and cost about $500 delivered. It weighs approx 160lbs. I'm not sure what I'm going to put in it, but an aro is a must. I'll probably end up with CA cichlids and odd balls.
Here is a pic of the stand from the other side of the wall.
