I found two in LFSs for around $20 each. I gave one to JK47 and one to Darth Pike.

What was I thinking? :D

Yes, you made me a very happy camper. It was $40 though, but I talked them down to $32 since it was out of print. :)

I don't remember you finding my copy. I found my copy in Seattle with my wife and wasn't $20.00.

I about crapped myself when you walked around the corner with that one at the 2011 meet you gave Darth Pike though, what a deal that was a really good find.

I still say I hit my head on the roof when I saw it in his hands.

I'd nearly be tempted to take you up on that if I had a bit of spare cash right now, given that I haven seen it under a grand on Amazon.com for a while now!

Maybe if you throw in free shipping to NZ...

Actually, I'm lucky enough to have a friend with a copy I can borrow. It's a fantastic book but Matt is right that it is somewhat out of date now, and $500 for a pretty pictures book is just too much! When is someone going to get around to writing an updated version? Wonder what Weidner is doing with himself these days...

I'll trade for something equivalent in value, Brand New in Shrink Wrap:

Someone with the book should just get access to a high quality scanner and throw a torrent of it out on the interwebz.

Is it legal to do that? I realize people do it all the time and it doesn't bother me (until I write a book, anyhow), but could you get in trouble for doing it?

I'm sure you could get in trouble for it, but it is out of print and if it found its way out there, who would know/care? If the publisher thought there was a demand for it they should just do another print run or release an e-book.

I'm sure you could in the US if you were caught and they bothered with it... Some random IP in a third world country anonymously uploaded to a torrent? Hmm :)

Does anyone actually know anyone who has paid more than a hundred bucks for it? There was a similar sort of thing with an out of print rare book on succulents a couple of years ago. At seemed like Amazon retailers were just trying to out do each other with who could ask the highest price for it, but I don't think anyone ever bought one! A reprint soon brought the prices back down...
