So....Everything is being cut off this month...Unfortunely, San Francisco law states I must neuture my bully's balls...With his appointment coming up, March 15, I am pondering over whether or not I should crop the ears too...I am seriosly thinking of it...I bought this guy from another MFK member....Opinions please....
I, and most you, have seen how perfect the ears look cut on his parrents....

Did you check with the vet? He might be too old? At least IMO for dogs with standing ears it is, since it's a terrier, a short crop might be ok done later. I've always heard 7-9 weeks though. But I would ask them first about proper age. And make sure the vet will do it(I assume you checked) since alot won't.

BTW his you know whats need to "drop" before neutering.. I wouldn't think 3 months would be near old enough for that.

Born October 26, 2007....According to San Francisco SPCA, he will be old enough on MArch 15th....As far as the ear cropping, I was affraid of getting a response that he may be too old....From past experience, I have own two Giant Snauzers(spell check) that were cropped at 4 months of age....Hopefully, I can still get this guy's ears chopped....ANyone else's thoughts???

Cool I just know my dane wasn't old enough til about 6 months for nuetering and my vet wouldn't crop after 8 weeks and I had it done at 7 weeks. All I was asking was if you checked with them.

Nice dog though.

Edit: Ahh ok he's gonna be older then. I wouldn't crop at this point. But that's just me and I'm sure not what you want to hear.

Does anyone know why the ears can't be cropped past 8 weeks????All they do is snip and cast.....

i guess the cartilage is too stiff by then, or can't recover well enough

Isnt the ear crop usually done in the first week? Have you seen crops the vet you use has done?

At three months I wouldnt do it, but it is your dog.

Standing ear crops like dane/doberman/etc have cartilage that starts to form early. They can flop but that's why you must tape them and keep care of them. If they do flop then surgery can be done on the cartilage to fix the ear but I'm not sure how severe of a flop they can fix. It's a short crop as far as crops are concerned so they're should be much chance of them flopping anyways.

I don't know that past 8 weeks is too late for you as bull's get a short crop. A quick online search and your vet should help you decide if it is too late or not. Then after that you can ethically decide if you want to do it. But I would hope your vet has input on this otherwise I question his D.V.M.

Ethically I wouldn't do it on that old of a dog. But just me.
