Pardon the order...finally figuring out how to post pics...my IPad was missing a "button"...dunno why...had to post from wrk 'puter....
-Load bearing is all 2x6 and 2x4
--corner uprights are 2 2x6 with interior 2x4
--looking at the pic with the tank on the stand, the bottom will have plywood, sealed seams, and liquid rubber, should hold about 20 gallons in case of bad leak...
-no wobbles, sway, and, aside from the 2% grade on my carport floor, is level and square...

-next set of pics I'll show the rough plumbing, and the river manifold

-was really happy that I was able to drill the manifold holes without incident...used a 2x6, drilled the 2x6 with the pattern, put plummers putty between the board and glass, clamped, put duct tape on the underside, added water to the holes and drilled...no worries...

-tank is coming off the stand and stand is going to a friends to be "skinned" in oak

-tank will be getting a 3d treatment over the next week or two...will try to remember pics on that process

-slowly but surely taking shape...

-also had to include an unsolicited pic of the obligatory "liquid refreshment"... I know, wimp beer, but its good and crisp and was FREE ! Ha ! Cheers...Rich

The only Madtoms Ive was successfull at keeping were Stonecats, (I tried to keep some others with Green sunfish without enough structure...bad Idea). I am a member of NANFA (north American native fish association) and anything I don't know from experience, I will look up at the website to get info from experts who often work in the field (they have many fishery biologist and state researchers as members). I tried to keep some logperch with my stonecat and Greens and they were eaten; but I would assume that the elegant madtom,Least madtom and pygmy madtom would be too small to eat full grown darters because of their size.

NANFA...Me too...same handle...they have an extraordinary wealth of knowlege on natives !

Wimp beer, LOL , I go by Wargreen on Nanfa (warmouth was taken); the tanks looking very nice, good job on the holes!

An update with some pics...stand is almost done, will be putting the oak and doors on this week/weekend...the overflow is done...the background is started...and, my piece of driftwood is finally starting to get waterlogged ! Yay ! Here are some pics...BTW, the glass cutters cut the bottom piece of the overflow about a 32nd to long, dummy me, I tried to force it...wound up chipping two corners and getting a crack...however it is in place and no damage a little extra silicone couldn't fix...background will cover the overflow..I put bracing and a plywood bottom in the stand, sealed all the seams/joints with liquid nails and then used spray rubber to seal it...should hold the occasional spill or splash and will prob hold about 20 gallons in case of bad leak...
