Stickleback fish questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well I bought some crappie minnows and this guy came with it and decided to keep him. He's a unique guy so I don't want to give him away to the LMB I have. I'm still trying to buy some more crappie minnows and hopefully get one or two to join him.

They are interesting fishes and I find myself getting to like the little guy.

So when the bullhead died from eating the stickleback did the sticleback died in the bullheads mouth???

Died stuck in it's gullet about half way through that sphincter.

Great fish! I'm surprised I haven't found any in the backyard trap yet, they usually turn up for me in early spring though. Right now it's just killies, sand shrimp, crabs, and ghost shrimp. I want a "tickleback" too, as my little sis used to say....

I had some too with fatheads and Iowa Darters. They are VERY territorial and very aggressive. I flushed mine. Also, they make terrible bait.

You flushed it, awww man, common. Atleast cut his head off quickly so he don't need to suffer or something.

He suffered less than the 14 tankmates he beat up or killed.

Ok got some pics of the little devils. First I only had one then next time I went to buy bait minnows I got another. Well when I put the second one in the tank he was very skinny compared to the first one since I fed the that guy good. The little second guy got smack around like a sissy. So then I put the first guy in the 10 gallon with the feeders for a week to see if the second guy could get a chance to get comfy and eat.

Well today I just put back the first guy and then the second guy smacked him around. No damage done since the second guy is still too small and weak to deliver a K.O. Then they just kept on fighting for a while, hummm is this normal I thought. Then I put some frozen brind shrimp in there and finally the little second guy starts to eat.

Well now they're homies......so anyone know's why the second guy has a shorter snout???

Together, the second guy is darker in color.
