Hi i have a 6x3x2 270 US gallon tank with a sump below, i am looking to get an Asian and grow it out in another tank but end goal have it in this, i was wondering compatibility wise are the below tank mates ok?

Oscar, Fire eel, L114, group of 6 Red head Tapajo, heckelii & Lima shovelnose.

Cheers

He means a 24” Asian arowana will eat your other fish & cichlids if they’re only 4-6”

Compatability wise I think the tapajos would be too small but the thread fin (if that’s what you mean by heckleii a better size.
I guess the sump takes it up to 270g as even the odd American way of calculating volume I don’t get to 270.
IMO compatibility would very much depend on the character of the fish. The arro needs to grow up with other fish to ensure it’s not a bully but they won’t all grow at the same rate.
Personally I’d leave out the Oscar and expect to have to move the tapajos once arro was larger.
Just checking you meant a heckleii and a shovelnose and not six of each of those!

I personally emptied my tank and gave the whole 7x3x3 foot tank to itself as I wanted to get the maximum out of its growth and colouration.

My High Back RTG thrived in my tank when I removed all the other fish

I grew him out from about 10cm to just shy of 2 foot

  • 6ft by 3 by 2 is 269.5 US gallons. or 1,020L & my sump holds 64 US gallons or 240L.
  • Yes i mean Thread fin, just wanted a fish to stir up the sand (any other Geo you would recommend?)
  • The Arrow would be in a grow out tank with other fish first but not the ones he would end up in with.
  • Does similar coloured fish also have an impact say if i got a red variant arrow it would view those as competition?

Cheers

If your Arowana is significantly larger then your other fish, it is likely he will devour them. Also if your Oscar is significantly larger then you Arowana, he might bully or eat him.

Your Arownana will probably eat the tapajos.

How do you intend on keeping all those fish in a 250 gallon?
I was just wondering if the stocking would work. If most people think it won't then i will go back to the drawing board and re think it.
