That is roughly 160 gallons. In other words, you will eventually need a Aquarium 6.25 times larger to house your Aro. Also what species is your Aro?
I would recommend filling out this to get specific advice in regards to your Aro's behavior.
I am having an albino silver arowana, around 16cms in length.
1.Almost 30 days back, my fish used to be sitting at the bottom and not eating, I thought issue was with the filters and cleaned the canister filters(2 eheim 2217) at once, this resulted in fish to come to the top surface and gasping for air.
The ammonia was at 4ppm at that time ( seems that the nitro cycle was disturbed during the cleaning).
I started to do WC of almost 30-50% and in 3 to 4 days, I was able to bring ammonia upto 0.5ppm.
In a few days the fish started to show good appetite and was swimming without any rest through out the day.
The WC has been a routine for me and every 2 days once I made sure to do it (30 to 50%) , this was done mainly to reduce the ammonia levels, which without wc rises upto 0.25 to 0.50ppm.
Now almost after 13days, fish has again started to show the same old symptoms either sitting at the bottom or swimming at the surface with noseup, like gasping for air and it has not been eating almost for the past 5 days.
It swims around the tank occasionally and it seems to be normal while doing this.
2. Fish mostly is present at the bottom corner of the tank and keeps swimming like seeing its own reflection.
Else it comes to the top surface and swims with the noseup like gasping for air.
I dont see any wounds or infections in its body.
3. I have been feeding dried shrimps and superworms, would be feeding twice a day.
Superworms, would be fed 10numbers and dried shrimp 10 to 20 numbers based on how much it eats in 5 to 10 minutes.
The poop seems to be in yellow colour and stringy.
3. Medications tried are,
Added epsom salt for 3 days, 15 to 20 grams in the tank. This treatment didnt help out so tried the below one.
Added ocean free internal bacteria and ulcer away (7ml). This also didnt help out so tried the below one after a water change.
Added ocean free diseses away (10ml), I did this today.
Apart from these I am also using prime whenever I do a waterchange.
4. I also cleaned the canister filters just to make sure there is nothing clogged in, water parameters are ammonia is at 0.25ppm, nitrite 0ppm and nitrate 20 -40ppm.
5. I recently changed the membrane in my ro filter, I am also having a doubt whether that is causing the problem.
I checked the ammonia in the ro filtered water and it is at 0ppm, the ph is 7.
Also this ro filtered water is used for home usage and it didnt cause any issue and the taste seems to be normal.
Also I am using the same ro water in a 30 gallon tank in which I have few gold fishes and a pleco, they seem to normal and having good appetite.
