Super Red Monkey Info?

If you didn't buy it faded already then you are taking a gamble. I've done that with juvys that were showing signs but wasn't faded and they grew out non faded.
Is there a way to trigger the dormant "fading gene"? I read somewhere that keeping young Red Texas in very cold water for a while triggers the fading process.

Just the red pinkish hue and was garbage. Gotta dish out the money to get the real faded ones if you want to be happy with them. Just my 2 cents. From the looks of yours looks to be female.
How long did you wait until you gave up?

I had mine in a red gravel and white background tank. Never saw it fade but still got a nice red to him. Great fish faded or not tbh. Clean water and some parrot or mirror training and that will help with the grooming process. I’ll dig up some pictures of him from when I kept nothing but Flowerhorn
Thanks for the input! Did you ever find those pictures? I’d like to see!

attached is an updated picture. Slightly more colorful but size wise, hasn’t really grown much at all. Doesn’t have much head growth either which is making me rethink if he is a male.
