John you never seize to amaze me.

You can write a book on your projects and i would definitely buy it.

Name it A story of a Monster Fish Keeper

JohnPTC Wow!! that is an amazing project. Can't wait to see the tank up and running! I am thinking of building a tank myself (nowhere near as big as yours) using Pond Shield epoxy and was wondering about the instalation of the acrylic (plan on using acrylic on my tank). How are you going to seal the acrylic into place? Silicone does not adhere very well to acrylic.

not to worry........

sand the area to be sealed with 220 grit ( SAND BOTH THE PLASTIC AND THE POND SHIELD)
apply dow 1205 prime coat
seal with dow 832 ALLOW A LONG DRY TIME IT CURES AT 1/8 INCH PER DAY FROM EACH EDGE

works great !!!!

Thanks JohnPTC

I just found a place that sells the stuff here in town!!! Just curious, when you took the acrylic out from your old tank was it hard to break the bond. Just a lil paranoid i guess wouldn't want large quantities of water on my floor, plus the wife mad at me. Just looking for a lil reassurance I guess.

OK ....first off i made custom chisels to cut thru the silicone....i did it all from the top.....on the left and right i made chisels with holes and pulled them out with the fork lift....each one about six inches longer than the previous.....until i cut thru the entire 5 feet or so of seal

once the plastic was free....i used and air powered scraper to remove as much as I could...the remaining thin film i used a sander and i still havent gotten it all off.........i thought it might peel off.....no way:headbang2 :headbang2
