it was a close call this morning.as we began to put the pond liner in the tank Sam jumped out landing in the new dry tank......quickly wrapped in a towel and lifted up a ladder . just about knocking me out with the side of his head to my jaw he was returned to the 5000 with water in it.....carefully we removed the pond liner which weighs in at 185 pounds and recovered the tank..............so far SAM seems ok swimming and a few new cuts ands cratches.....

PLAN B

build a temporary holding tank in the new tank.....transfer all the fish but SAM......knock him out with tricane-s move him.pump the water out of the existing tank.....remove wall.refill.....let the fish swim out of the holding tank remove pond liner and temp wall.................

estimated delay 3 weeks :(

That sounds like a serious blood pressure inducer! Why did he jump? just freaked out by all the activity? Would it be possible to sedate Sam by feeding him something (instead of the whole holding tank idea) or even sedate everyone in the 5000 while the pond liner gets installed? You've got a lot of time invested in this temp wall idea; obviously you don't want to take any chances with your fish's health, but maybe there is a way that won't put you out 3 weeks.

Nice move getting Sam back in. Moving gigas is a PAIN (you've seen my video haha), but I know you'll pull it off well when the time comes. Cuts heel well on those guys. You can hardly see any marks on ours where he broke out of the home tank he was in prior to moving to the aquarium.

Is the little red/white one dying or does it always swim on its side? Seems to be swimming around fine on its side, but gets pushed around alot.
