Alright I found the eggcrate at home depot for 10 bucks and picked it up, its a pretty big sheet so I have to cut it down to fit it in there. How do you guys recomend I hold it in place in the tank? Without the ability to use glues and such because of the possibility of being toxic what else should I do to hold it securely? I'm just worried some of the fish could hit it and knock it down.

I respect your intentions with your friend's convict, but I don't see how you're going to divide a 75G tank in a way to give enough space for these three fish . . .

will you try to keep the Texas & GT on one side and the convict on the other? so, if you give the Texas & GT 2/3 of the tank, that means the convict will be living in a 16x18x20 space, and for a large convict, that does not sound adequate . . . and I don't think the Texas & GT will be happy about their living space either

I currently own a 75 gallon aquarium with a texas cichlid that is about 5" in length, a green terror that is about 3.5" in length and a convict cichlid that is about 7.5" in length. Now the problem is the green terror and the texas are tag teaming this convict and are beating him up bad, I just got the convict from a friend who got out of the hobby but owned the fish for many years and he is the coolest looking convict I have ever seen and was figuring the 75 gallon tank would have been large enough for these 3 cichlids to live in but my other 2 fish began just outright chasing and biting him, I ran out to the pet store and bought some decor and did a water change but it hasent really solved my problem they continue to attack him. So I was thinking of getting some kind of divider for the aquarium and keeping the convict by himself, but I cant find any dividers for a 75 gallon aquarium. I figured u guys could help me out any help with a link or if anyone has one that they would wanna sell I would appreciate it guys.

this is how i made my tank devider 4 my tank. a piece of acrilic and about 3ft of hose pipe.cut my acrilic to the size of my tank, cut the hose pipe longways sliped the pipe on either side and wedged it in nice and easy hope this helps!!

I have never heard of a 7.5 inch convict. Are you sure it is a convict?
Personally I have never seen a convict that was over 6.5" long but I have heard of them getting a little larger than that. He said that the person who owned it before had kept it for many years, so I guess 7.5" is not out of the question.

To hold the divider, i use big suction cups with big plastic hooks and i stagger the direction of the hooks. Example left, right, left, right. The suction cups are quite sturdy. bigger is always better

I was planning on splitting the tank right in the middle and giving half to the texas and green terror and the other half to the convict. I know for a fact the fish is a convict, as far as his size i'm incluiding his fins which where really long before my fish began attacking him they are now pretty frade and beat up, he is the only convict that I have seen that has a nuchal hump. Like I said he is the coolest convict I have ever seen, I was honestly worried when I got him that he was going to hurt my 2 fish. I was hoping the three of them could live together peacefully, I really dont want to put a divider in my tank but really dont have a choice.
