Acaras are not better about that. They’re pretty feisty and brutal. ;) A lot of the issues will come as they age. Juveniles of most cichlids are fairly social but when they hit breeding age you’ll start to see an increase in intolerance. That’s why tank size and appropriate stocking levels are important. The bigger the tank and more personal space they have, the better.

Acaras are a large group. I consider it everything from Andinoacara, Aequidens, Cichlasoma, and even Laetacara. Combined it’s dozens of species. They range from fairly small and peaceful (L. dorsigera) to large and aggressive (A. stalsbergi) but overall they have similarities, and one of those is feistiness in general and with each other.

Good to know. Thank you. Well my overall stocking will be 4 EBA, diadema, 3 EBJD, and two plecos (if I can’t catch the other one to put back in my 50g lol) I have a fluval fx4, I think I’ll be good when they grow out as far as space and weekly or bi weekly water changes. I know I have some time. What do you think?

Definitely large weekly water changes and remember to clean the FX4 fairly frequently, once every month or two. They get full of junk really fast when you have hungry, larger cichlids.
