I just got a Black belt Cichlid the end of last week along with a Brown Acara , and would like to know is what can i put in with the Black belt ?

Current stock is in my Sig' which are currently in a 120Gal tank but will be going into a 240 or 260gal tank in the next 4 - 6 weeks .

anything else other than another vieja will be allright, viejas are very aggresive toward each others or any fish that look similar to them

Ok , i was at the same time going to get 3 Uraus too do you think they would be ok ?

A green terror or an oscar would do well

Got one Oscar , had two but my Red' died the other week , dont think i want another one .

Any thoughts on the Urau ?

and also what about a Earth eater ( Geophagus ) ?

my black belt has got along perfectly in the last few months in my 250g. he's in with everything from a 2" convict, 3" polypterus, to a 2 foot pacu and he seems extremely easy going. i would imagine you could pretty much put them in with any of the cichlids that wont want to tear it to shreads upon first site

i wouldnt try Geophagus or Uaru (pronounced War-oo), Black belts have the tendency to be veeeeeery aggressive, whereas Uaru and Geophagus tend to be more or less peaceful, and even if they were aggressive they dont have a proper mouth shape to defend themselves.

look up some Central American cichlids, the only SA cichlids i can think of off hand are Festae and Green Terrors that would do OK, if the tank is an absolute monster you MIGHT be able to get away with an Umbie, though ive never owned an umbee nor have i done much research so i dunno how aggressive they tend to be.

Ok so it's a no go with the Uara or Geophagus .
I do like the look of the Green terror so will have a look about for one of them and the Umbee looks nice too , i will have a look about for one of them too and see what stuff i can find about them .

how big is your tank? Umbie can attain a size of 24", so if it is anything less then a 7' tank i wouldnt try and keep tankmates with it.
