hey guys idk if this goes here but ive been interested in getting an odoe pike. From what ive read their have a pretty huge max size of like 24 inches but ive been told that they rarly get bigger than 14 inches. i have a 135 gallon tank but would that be enough? It would be the only fish in the tank.

An only 135 gal (6ft) tank is quite tiny for a fish that gets oner 20".
One I might sugest, in the same vane, might be Ctenolucius hujeta, or fischeri.
I have kept a few in a 6 ft 180 ga tank, and they did well.

These are from Colombia and Panama.
Mine were Ct.fischeri and were wild caught in Panama in hard high pH water.
The Colombian version hujata, usually comes from softer, low pH water.

Short answer: I don't think they typically reach 2 foot, and you can have a group until they pair up. Having said that, there have only been a couple of cases on this forum where they did pair up...

duanes duanes i've always been fascinated by hujeta. Very intriguing fish. Do you know if they can get pellets trained?

Being wild caught, mine never did go for pellets, or any commercially prepared foods, even thogh other fish in the tank did.
Shrimp (live, or pieces), fish flesh, an occasional struggling insect were the only things that tempted them.
