No, I'm no newbie to tattoos. I have 4. But this last one when I got it, the colors faded and the black looked "foggy" like graying out. Anyway, I went back for a retouch, and now I'm like scared as to how to care for it. I feel as though I don't know what I'd doing, though I've done it many times  I'm just scared it will happen again!

I left the bandage on all that day and night and took it off in the morning. I rinsed a little and put lotion on it. After that I put lotion on every 4 hours or so. Not a thick coat just like enough. Should I do more or less? ps- i use lubriderm unscented

And avoid soap right?? Or wth?? Sorry, can you please gimme personal advice? I've already looked at a thousand caresheets and they all say different things. so I don't want another care sheet, just YOUR little tidbit info, please and thankyou :nilly: I'll post a pic of it later.

Try using aquaphor or a&d.

Dude! Congrats on the new work. Soap is OK. but unscented. Wash it with hot water, opens the pours, rinse with cold, closes them. A&D should only be needed for around 4 days, and your right it should be a light coating after 4 days go to lotion. the bandage should have come off quicker. My artist has me take them off 1-4 hours after I get worked on. Congrats again.

my tat guy says to only use A+D and stay away from all the other stuff, especially neosporin. never had any issues on my work using a+d

i have about 15 and this is what i do take the bandage off after 2 hours leave it off, dont put any lotion on it for atleast a day maybe 2 depending where it is use lotion sparingly. like i have one in my armpit and since its such a spot that is always used he said to maybe put lotion on it in the morning lunch and before sleep, but its up to ur descression. i used lubriderm unsented never used ad but heard its ok. but stay out of pools and the beach till its healed. thats what i have done and never had anyturn out bad fade or etc. but thats just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys. :hearts:
I feel a big more at ease. I hear ALOT about AnD. I never used it/had it recommended either, but might give it a try. Then Ill continue using the lotion.

I'm getting a large piece on my back sometime in the future and I don't want to go through another fade. Thanks again! I'll remember to take the bandage off sooner next time, too.

OH OH, and what do the rest of you say about soap and washing??

I used neo sporin for all 9 of my tats and all look fresh as the day i got them .

every tattoest has their prefrence on what to put on it...but I have 9 tatts (my whole back is done) and this is what Ive been doing....

i washed it twice a day with antibacterial soap (might sting alittle and get the non sented kind) and put a thin layer of aquaphor on after...let it breath dont cover it up and keep it outa the sun for a month. Hasnt failed me yet:D

also only keep the bandage on for an hour or two after its done it needs to breath to heal, and dont use regular lotion on it till after a month...A&D and Aquaphor are made to help heal.

good luck!
