Man, every time I start feeling good about my setups, I make the mistake of clicking on one of your threads....

Other than making me feel horribly depressed about how unimaginably ugly my own tanks are (by comparison), you have an amazing ability to stage a biotope, and you have some truly amazing fish (not to mention camera skills).

Nice tank man! I'm currently working on a 300 glass one myself. Although my heaters will be partly visible due to them being Fluvals and not fitting exactly in my sump. Fish look awesome. Are those rummies? Good choice as tankmates. Good luck with the discus, I absolutely love them and that is what I'm planning on putting in mine. Once I'm finished, I'll put up some pics. thanks.

I'm curious how far away from the wall your tank is. I'm going to be ordering a 180 gallon acrylic tank in a few months and am in the process of trying to figure out how to setup the overflows. I like the bean animal setup from what I've read about it, but I'd also like to have the tank as close to the wall as possible. I'm considering maybe doing the standard overflows with a herbie, so I can get it right against the wall. Thanks.

Is this tank still running without issue? Hopefully in a few weeks I can order my 180. I plan on setting up the filtration similar to yours, except I'm going to get an external overflow to keep the tank all open. I just hope it looks half as good as yours.

Thanks! A 300g sounds sweet. The small fish are either the roselines barbs or the lemon tetras. No rummies in there, they'd get eaten by the discus :)

It is such an awsome looking tank and build up
Thanks!

that hard work sure paid off, amazing! :goodjob:
Thanks!

There's a pretty good gap behind the tank, I'd say a little more than a foot. I like to keep the tanks away from the wall as far as possible, while still looking decent. You never know when you have to reach back to do something. With the beananimal pipes, I need to leave quite a gap.

Yup, still running with no issues, just been lagging on the updates. Not much has changed and the fish are still doing great. To be honest, I hardly pay attention to the tank because it's so easy to maintain. Just feed and do water changes...been so busy lately!
