yes the bump will go away. what size tank do you have for this guy? I'll be "that guy" and tell ya they get pretty big.

You were the one asking about pickerel right? Also "that guy" just making sure you weren't going to mix them if you do get pickerel ;) would hate to see my beloved esox species torn to shreds haha.

great looking fish btw.

No I would put the pickerel in their own tank. The piranha is living in a 55 right now but will move to a 75 in a couple weeks.

check out the sticky on piranha species in this forum. a 75 will be ok for a while but I believe rhoms have the potential to push over 16" even in aquaria. not being rude or anything I just don't want ya to get bashed later on by someone.

They take a very very long time to grow I've read, don't move him till he is comfortable and well fed which may be a few months..
I cured my old manny by adding loads of grass type plants front to back, gravel to surface, this helps them feel secure. After that he became insane and attacked me through the glass, so sad I lost him during a tank change... Manny get stressed and die very easily.

Thanks. I will leave him alone for a while. He hides as soon as I walk into the room.

This guy at 6 inches won't outgrow a 75 ....trust me they are one of the slowest growing monsters.....the bright humeral spot and the yellowish anal fin made me guess it was a xingu especially when you said it was from brazil

So i think the bump is getting bigger but I have never once seen it rub its face or crash into the glass. He now comes right up to me will eat feeders about a minute after I drop them in and I've only had it a week and a half. So I'm happy about that but I will be trying frozen silversides now. So any info on that would be a help. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpeg
